30 Seconds to Mars in Tilburg

Posted by Alvina

Concerts are my way to support a band I really like. I go to them to enjoy the music and to feel the energy of the band. My sister apparently doesn’t understand this for when we went to 30 Seconds To Mars in Tilburg on 8 June 2010, she decided that we shouldn’t be at the front because she didn’t want to. I told her I wanted to be at the front and she promised me we would... that didn’t happen.

But, even though I wasn’t at the front of the stage I had an amazing time. Round 8 or 9 in the morning my sister and I went to Tilburg, which is about 40-50 minutes away from our hometown. When we arrived we immediately went to the venue and saw about 50 people there already waiting. Note that it was about 9 am and the concert would begin at 8 pm. My sister and I decided to walk around town because we didn’t feel like waiting in line.

We had a good time walking through the city later with Gary as well. When it was time to go to the concert we were somewhere in the back. At one point this rather tall person went to stand in front of me and we asked him to take a few steps down; suddenly he started bitching. My sister and I, we were both like ‘WTF?!’ and eventually he left. So I could see the stage clearly.

Make Believe went on and they were good, not amazing but good. Then, finally it was time for 30 Seconds To Mars. They started with ‘Escape’ and went right into ‘Night of the Hunter’. Jared was nuts! He did talk way too much and often I was like ‘Shut the f*ck up and sing already’ but the concert was still amazing. He sang a part of Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance with perverted lyrics. He also sang, and that must have been the highlight for me, Alibi! It’s definitely my favourite song and Jared sang it! He has such an amazing voice and completes this song completely.

Of course, they sang the kill which was awesome as well. What I didn’t like, however, was when Thirty started singing ‘One Hundred Suns’ the fans messed up the summit parts. They started way too early. I was like ‘If you don’t know the song don’t bloody well sing it!’ but, hey, that’s just me!

All in all, the concert was amazing. Shannon even went crowdsurfing. That was hilarious! Jared obviously jumped into the crowd during ‘The Kill’ and Tomo and Tim went nuts. I have the entire concert (excluding Kings and Queens) on my computer and am definitely watching it soon.

After the show my sister and I went outside and got a picture with Shannon. I had hoped Jared, Tomo and Tim would get out as well but by the time we left they hadn’t come out yet and I didn’t feel like waiting hours at an end.

The Musical Tarzan

Posted by Alvina

I went to see the musicak Tarzan on Friday!! I had wanted to go for some time now but the tickets are really expensive. They are €75 euro's (which is like $80 (USD)) for the first row. Obviously I want first row tickets but I'm not going to pay 75 euro's for one bloody ticket. So, we decided not to go. Guess what! My sister works at Free Record Shop (DVD/CD shop) and they had this discount thing on the musical Tarzan. Turns out tickets for the first row would be 35 euro's then (around 40 USD). Just 35 euros? Well, we went!!

It played in Scheveningen, for those who don't know. That's a city which lays at the sea so we had a beach and a boulevard with shops and all that. SO, we went early so we could shop and just visit the beach. The weather was nice and warm so we were lucky.

At 7 o'clock we went to the theatre, it would start at 8. We were tired so we decided to go to the theatre. We had to wait an hour before we could take our seats but that didn't matter, we could sit down. Oh, I bought a nice (green) keychain, with the Tarzan logo on it. It's nice.

Our seats were front row so we were close to the stage. I must tell you that the musical was awesome! It began with a loud bang which made half the theatre jump 1 metre from their seats. We had the normal cast, Ron Link as Tarzan, Chantal Jansen as Jane and Chaira Borderslee as Kala!

If you have seen the Disney Cartoon/Movie of Tarzan you'll know what happens but the movie cannot compare to the musical. It was great. Gorila's were swiging above the audience, Little Tarzan would jump up and down, trying to be the best Ape ever. Tarzan swung from the back of the theatre onto the stage, Tark would hang up side down. The emsamble would participate in bungee jumping... It was madness but so bloody awesome!

I definately would want to go again for that prize. Though this time I'd sit a little further from the stage so I can see everything!

After the show we went to the artist exit. I wanted to have a picture of me and Chaira but I didn't recognize her so she walked past me - yeah stupid of me, isn't it? But I do have another picture of my and Chantal and one with Ron!! Awesome!

Pinkpop (30 Seconds to Mars)

Posted by Alvina

On Monday 28th of May (2007) I went to Pinkpop. For those of you who do not know what it is, let me explain. Pinkpop is a festival that last three days of band performing live. Basically a concert of different bands and singers. I didn't went for three days but just one day (the last, Monday). I went because 30 seconds to mars (!!) was playing there that day. So, at 7 I woke up, at 8 we, being my sister and me, were on our way to Breda. Where we took another train to Eindhoven. Where we again took another train to Heerlen. Where we again took another train to Langraaf where we took the bus to Pinkpop. So, three hours later we were in the line to enter Pinkpop.

Once inside we searched the stage where 30 seconds to mars was playing, well actually we were more like searching for the Echelon. Once we found them we noted that the stage was so busy, but as part of the Echelon we were able to get closer to the stage. So, once again we were close to the stage!

The band began to play around 12 and I'll tell you it was awesome. They began with A Beautiful Lie, with Battle for one after it. Then they played From Yesterday. The concert was awesome they sang all the songs I hoped they would and more!

Almost at the end of the concert Jared (the vocalist) of course jumped off the stage and walked in front of the line. He climbed on the gate on our side and I was able to make some really good pictures of him. (I'll upload them a little later). I even touched his hand (very fan girlie!!). Any way when the concert was over at 12:45 we went to see if they had some 30 seconds to mars merchandise. Unfortunately for us, they didn't. But that didn't matter since they would be having a sign session at 3.

We went to the Free Record Shop where they held the session and we asked one of my sister's colleagues if we could go back stage. He told us we could so we waited for 1 and a half hours for the band to show up at 14:30. We were able to take pictures of them when the walked to the signing room (they even said "Hey Guys," to us which we replied with "Hey". was so awesome).

Half an hour later they thought it was too crowded and decided to leave the signing session. Me and my sister being back stage were waiting for them to show up. Tomo and Shannon were the first one out and we were like "Can we take a picture with you?" and they agreed. So me and my sister went on a photo with Shannon and Tomo!! 5 minutes later or something Jared came and we were like "Can we have a picture with you?" he said "Of course" and took hold of my camera (which was around my neck so he sort of hurt me when he tried to take a picture and I didn't get an apology (asshole!)) But anyway once he had a hold of me camera he shot the picture himself. Then he took the picture with him and my sister. After that he left (he actually shot four pictures of each but the first two were zoomed in so the weren't good.)

All in all I have pictures of Tomo, Me, Shannon and my sister and Me and Jared! I was so happy my day could not get worse... Of course that was a lie...

At three o'clock we still had to wait on Linkin Park to make their presence known. We knew they were to start at 18:30 so we had to wait a long time until they started. But once they did it was awesome. This time we weren't that close to the stage but we were able to make out who was who. We did have this huge screen where we could see them on. But of course sometimes I stood on my toes just to get a glimpse of the 'real' band and not just through a screen.

Once their concert was over we left to go home, we were both beat and I was so glad I got home that I almost cried. Nah, kidding. I was just glad that I got home I took a bath to relax my muscles, since they ached like hell and after that I went to bed.

Tuesday morning I had to go to work because I would need to connect ADSL at a costumer's place, so I couldn't even rest. But that doesn't matter cause I've got my pictures!!
