Concerts
Music is a big part of my life. I support bands by going to their concert(s) when they are in the Netherlands. Although I do not go to a lot of concert I have been to a few. Here's an list and a few details of what my experience was when I went to my best concerts ever.
I went to these concerts:
- Westlife (26 April 2001)
- Backstreet Boys (28 October 2005)
- 30 seconds to mars (05 February 2007)
- 30 seconds to mars (28 May 2007)
- 30 seconds to mars (25 January 2008)
- 30 seconds to mars (25 January 2008)
- 30 seconds to mars (09 February 2008)
- 30 Seconds to Mars 2009
- Backstreet Boys 2009
- Bobby Long (06 February 2010)
- 30 Seconds to Mars (3 March 2010)
I planned to go to the following concerts:
- I am Ghost (23 May 2010)
- 30 Seconds to Mars (8 June 2010)
- TMF Awards (28 June 2010 - Just to see 30stm)
Since 2004 30 seconds to mars has been my second favourite band. I did not even know they were coming to the Netherlands until my sister gave me the tickets for my birthday. On February 5th I was able to see them in concert. I was very close to the stage (you get that when you wait 7 hours to get inside) and with all the pushing I was able to get even closer. When we were still in queue Shannon and Matt came outside, unfortunately I wasn't able to get a picture but they promised after the show. At one point I was able to touch Jared's (the vocalist's) sleeve. You could say it was a very fan girlie moment. Jared also jumped into the crowd and on this gate, I was so afraid he'd fall off but luckily he did not. The sang all the songs I wanted to hear and that made my day. After the concert they promised to hang out with us but I unfortunately had to go catch the train so I couldn't stay. I still do not have a autograph.
Although I really do not like festivals like Pinkpop I did go, only because my sister bought the ticket for me. So, we arrived at Pinkpop and went to find the stage where they were performing. We were a little late so it was very crowded but being a member of the Echelon helps and we were able to get closer to the stage. Now we could see everything fine. The show started and it was awesome. Of course they began with A Beautiful Lie, followed closely with A Battle of One and From Yesterday in tow. They also sang The Kill and Attack which are they latest video's(Attack, The Kill and From Yesterday have been released) Crowd surfing was not allowed so this time Jared stayed on his feet. Almost at the end of the show he went and climbed on the gate I was able to touch his hand (yes another fan girlie moment). I also took a few pictures of him right in front of us. Although the concert only lasted 45 minutes we were not done yet. 3 hours after the concert we could go to a signing session. Once again, thanks to my sister, we were lucky. We could go back stage at the signing. When they arrived they said "Hey guys!" to which we replied "hey". So, we took pictures of them when they arrived and when they left we took pictures with them. We have a pictures of Tomo, me, Shannon and my sister and also a picture of me and Jared. He took that picture himself and hurt my neck in the process. He did not even apologize to me for hurting me. (My sister also has a picture of her and Jared which he took himself as well.) But all that didn't matter for I got my pictures! Next time we'll need them to sign something!
Although we had waited since 10 am that morning we weren't in front at the first concert. Since we had to go to the second level. But none the less we were at front on the balcony and we were able to see everything. This show was way too rushed since they arrived late but it was good none the less. My sister taped the whole concert on her camera so I can see the show whenever I want to. Also, it's a shame that most of our pictures weren't good but we have one or two pictures that are decent. Like I said the show was rushed but that didn't stop them to put on an awesome show. When Jared sang "A Modern Myth" I got goosebumps, though it was a shame Tomo didn't play the violin.Of course they sang my favourite songs: "The Kill", "The Fantasy", "From Yesterday" and of course "A Modern Myth" so I was happy enough. When the show was over we were rushed out of there for the seconds concert...
The second concert that day was way better than the first! The began with "Attack" and ended with "Hunter" which means they played the whole track list of "A Beautiful Lie" so we knew what song came next. Again when Jared sang "A Modern Myth" I got goosebumps. I also love it when they play "The Fantasy" and Jared starts spinning around when he sings "I am a machine". He always/often does that and I love it!
This show was a really great show and I loved every second of it, even though I got this guy on top of my head when he went crowd surfing. But that didn't stop me from having a wonderful time!

Unfortunately we arrived rather late at this concert, so we had to find someone we knew and stand by them so we could get closer to the stage. At this point there were only a hundred people in front of us instead of the 100+ that were already there. We waited for a long time before the doors opened, we almost ran to the left side (which, we know, is Tomo's side!) and I had only one person in front of me. So, I was able to see the stage very well. The opening band began and Tomo went to take a look so I could see him while he listened to "Make Believe" that was funny. After a sucky second opening band 30 seconds were finally on stage blowing us away with "Battle of One". This show was one of the greatest I attended! The not only played my favourite songs from the second album but also from the first album. They played "Mission", "The Fantasy" (Yes, with Jared Spinning), "A Modern Myth", "The Kill", "From Yesterday" and "Buddha for Mary"!! I was so happy my day/night could not go wrong. After the show we went to the 'Artist Exit'. We waited for like half an hour when Tomo came out. Unfortunately Tomo had hurt his leg so he was walking with a crutch and all those stupid fan girls crowded him so he could go no where. But he just stood there and handed out autographs and pictures patiently. I also got a change to get a picture with him and his autograph. Jared also came out but since everyone went to him I just stayed with Tomo so I'd get a chance to have my picture taken with him and I did!
